Viktor Gyokeres rejects massive contract offer as he tells friends and family which club he'll be joining

Gyokeres' future has been a major talking point so far this summer - and a final outcome is finally getting closer.

Viktor Gyokeres has turned down a huge offer after informing friends and family of the club he will be signing for this summer, according to a new report.

The Sporting Lisbon striker has been embroiled in a developing transfer saga which has gathered pace in recent weeks.

After smashing in 54 goals in all competitions in the 2024/25 season, it seemed almost certain that Gyokeres would leave Portugal this summer.

What was unexpected was how the situation has played out since, with Sporting president Frederico Varandas accusing Gyokeres' entourage of 'blackmail' surrounding claims from the Swede's agent about the existence of a gentleman's agreement, whereby he would be sold for a set fee.

The 27-year-old striker has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, with European interest from Juventus.

And according to Correire dello Sport, Gyokeres has now turned down a significant contract offer to move to Juventus this summer.

It is claimed that he has explicitly informed Juve that he has no interest in playing in the Serie A next season, despite being offered a salary of €13 million per year (€250,000 per week).

Instead, Gyokeres has signalled that he intends to join a Premier League club instead.

TalkSPORT's Alex Crook reports that the Swede has told family and friends that he 'expects' to join Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners are in the market for a striker, with Kai Havertz currently their only natural option in the position, and have also been linked with RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.

Crook explained: "We know that Manchester United are interested in signing him as well, obviously. There is that pre-existing relationship with Ruben Amorim.

"But Arsenal can offer Champions League football, maybe can offer a tilt at the title next season.

"But Sporting are going to play hardball. There's been a fall-out between Gyokeres and the club because his agent has suggested that they had a gentleman's agreement that he could leave for £60 million. I think they're looking for nearer £80m."
